According to The Daily Caller, Arizona voters approved Proposition 318 to protect female sports with 59% support, exposing how everyday citizens reject transgender ideology even while electing Democrats.

Arizona voters delivered a massive victory for biological reality on Tuesday by passing Proposition 318 to ban biological men from female sports teams and locker rooms, according to The Daily Caller. In our view, this decisive vote proves that the radical gender agenda remains deeply toxic to everyday Americans, even in a state that simultaneously elected Democratic leaders.

According to The Daily Caller, Proposition 318 captured 59% of the vote, expanding sports restrictions based on biological sex to private schools and collegiate athletics while preventing students from entering opposite-sex locker rooms or bathrooms. Voters approved these safeguards even while re-electing Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs with 55% of the vote, The Daily Caller reported. As The Daily Caller noted, Hobbs spent her first term pushing transgender initiatives, issuing a 2023 executive order mandating state healthcare plan coverage for sex-change surgeries. Hobbs also vetoed bills assigning bathroom use by biological sex and restricting public funds for drag queen story hours, according to The Daily Caller.

Common Sense Sweeps Across the States

Arizona was not alone in rejecting gender policies at the ballot box, according to reports from The Daily Caller and The Daily Signal. The Daily Signal reported that Nebraska voters approved a ballot initiative banning men from women sports with 68% support. In addition, The Daily Caller reported that ballot measures restricting sports by biological sex were leading in Colorado and Washington State. To us, these results demonstrate that when given a direct choice, everyday citizens consistently vote to safeguard women athletics.

The Left Tries to Spin Defeat

Following the election, left-wing activists attempted to frame the results as a total victory, according to The Daily Signal. The Daily Signal reported that the Human Rights Campaign celebrated Democratic midterm wins and framed the outcomes as vindication for candidates who resisted Republican culture war messaging. Human Rights Campaign President Kelley Robinson claimed voters had rejected conservative policies.

“After two years of MAGA Republicans waging a culture war, wasting taxpayer dollars attacking LGBTQ+ people, and spending $340 million on anti-trans ads while families suffered, voters have had enough.”

— Kelley Robinson

The outlet noted reporting from The 19th News that six candidates won state legislative seats to become their assemblies first transgender or nonbinary members, including former Human Rights Campaign director Bentley Hudgins in Georgia. Yet The Daily Signal argued that activist groups are getting ahead of their skis by portraying these candidate victories as an endorsement of transgender ideology.

Democrats Flee Their Own Orthodoxy

Texas Senate candidate James Talarico reversed his past theological claim that God is nonbinary, explicitly rejecting gender dogma on the campaign trail, according to The Daily Signal.

“There are not six sexes, there are two.”

— James Talarico

According to The Daily Signal, Talarico also pledged to oppose transgender athletes in girls sports if fairness or safety is compromised. Winning Iowa House candidate Sarah Trone Garriott publicly declared her opposition to allowing men in women locker rooms, The Daily Signal reported. In South Carolina, Senate candidate Dr. Annie Andrews ran advertisements stating she opposes biological men in women sports and does not perform gender surgeries on minors, according to The Daily Signal, while Benjamin Ryan noted several other winning Democrats who broke party ranks.

Polling data cited by The Daily Caller revealed where midterm voters placed their real priorities. According to an AP-NORC poll cited by The Daily Caller, fewer than 10% of voters considered transgender issues one of the most important issues in the midterms, while 80% prioritized the economy and the cost of living. The Daily Caller reported that Republicans spent $183 million on television ads touching on transgenderism, while the AP-NORC poll found that only 17% of adults approved of Donald Trump handling of the cost of living. We think the lesson of Arizona is obvious: voters will eagerly protect female sports from woke ideology, but political candidates cannot ignore economic kitchen-table realities.
