A federal grand jury indicted ten noncitizens living in Los Angeles and Orange counties after prosecutors alleged they submitted false citizenship claims on voter forms, Townhall reported. According to the New York Post, the actions are part of what officials termed the largest voter fraud takedown in California history. Top Los Angeles prosecutor Bill Essayli highlighted the legal action on social media as part of an initiative called Operation Protect the Vote, according to the New York Post.
“Today, a federal grand jury returned 10 indictments against noncitizens who registered and voted in California elections as part of Operation Protect the Vote.”
Townhall reported that all ten defendants are green card holders who are barred from registering or casting ballots in American elections. If convicted, each individual faces a statutory maximum penalty of five years behind bars, according to Townhall.
“We will continue to arrest and prosecute those who threaten our democratic republic through unlawful vote dilution.”
