President Donald Trump is standing firmly behind War Secretary Pete Hegseth, telling reporters on Wednesday that his defense chief is performing very well, according to Fox News. The Washington Examiner reported that Trump previously defended Hegseth's record and cautioned Democrats against launching an impeachment drive against him. Fox News noted that Hegseth has vigorously advanced Trump's mandate by dismantling diversity programs, barring transgender individuals from military service, and establishing unified combat fitness standards.
“I think he’s doing a very good job”
According to the Washington Examiner, Rep. Thomas Massie delivered an ultimatum demanding that Hegseth step down or confront an impeachment vote during the lame-duck period. The Washington Examiner reported that Massie, who lost his own primary election to a candidate endorsed by Trump, disclosed his intention to press forward with the measure once the House reconvenes.
“There is one contingency in which I won’t reintroduce the articles of impeachment: Hegseth resigns”
Fox News reported that Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell made clear Hegseth has no intention of resigning and remains fully dedicated to serving out the entirety of Trump's term. Parnell insisted that the defense agency has strictly abided by the law and will continue executing the administration's goals despite partisan threats, according to Fox News Digital.
“Secretary Hegseth will not back down or be deterred by politicians seeking to score partisan points or launch phony investigations where no wrongdoing exists”
Fox News indicated that American leadership is giving active thought to initiating further military actions against Tehran. According to Fox News Digital, replacing the Pentagon chief at this juncture could inject unwelcome instability, especially since Hegseth has already shown he implements presidential orders without hesitation.
